Gogo’s Gift to Veterinary Care

To Jenny Tang and her husband, Lei, supporting veterinary health also means helping those who provide the care.

To Jenny Tang and her husband, Lei, supporting veterinary health also means helping those who provide the care. They have named the lactation room at the new UC Davis Hobbs Veterinary Center, dedicated to team members who are new mothers. They did this in honor of their “first born,” a Lhasa Apso named Gogo.

“Gogo was our first child,” Jenny said. “She went with us everywhere. She was a spoiled girl! We loved her dearly, and she was with us a very long time.”

Jenny and Lei went on to have children of their own. Jenny works in health care and understands well the importance of having spaces for new mothers like lactation rooms. “It is so important to support new mothers who are feeding babies at home,” she said. “We got Gogo when she was just a few weeks old, and it is wonderful for us to name such a supportive space in her honor.”

Jenny and Lei’s son graduated from UC Davis, and the family has fond memories of the university, as parents and as part of the UC Davis community.

“We learned about the new center a couple of years ago during a tour of the facility,” Jenny said.

It just felt like this perfect moment to make a difference to the team who will be caring for so many animals when the new center opens.”

The Tang family grew up with and around animals, from cats to carrier pigeons. They have a love and respect for all species, Jenny said, and they look forward to the impact that the new veterinary center will make for animals across the region.

“It is near and dear to my heart to support those who are helping others,” Jenny said. “We look forward to seeing the new space open this fall, and how Gogo’s room will support new mothers in the future.”
